hi I downloaded added your solution, however I cannot upload your assembly, i get 'Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information.' exception, googling it doesn't help either.

While trying to add the control through web.config I don't see the select button for selection ?

Hi - this is excellent - thanks!

I am new to SiteFinity and find the documentation very poor, at least as soon as you have to do something slightly above the basics, for example I managed to establish the fact that I needed a custom WebEditor control for extended properties - but nothing anywhere on how to actually implement these.

Thanks for this again!

Sample.Contacts\WebControls\Admin\ContactEditor.cs
To avoid error I've commented lines from 135 to 140

Now I don't see any controls when I press "Add new contact"

I think it's because not implemented "DefaultContactEditorTemplate.InstantiateIn" in line 271.

How to solve this problem?

Hello

I put Sample.Contact folders into my project and added the bits to my config, but I got the following error:

Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "Telerik.Resources.Messages.resources" was correctly embedded or linked into assembly "Telerik.Framework" at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed.

Hello Ivan,
Could you please specify in more details the steps that we should do In order to make the module appear on the modules page and to be usable. And also what are the lines that should be written in web.config file to register the new module?
Thanks

Hi Lamees,

sorry that I haven't replied to your previous comment yet, it's been a really busy day. Also, I don't have your email and can't send you files on your email.

Regarding this problem, I didn't see the web.config lines you are talking about (must be some WordPress security thing). Anyhow, let me know what error are you getting and I'll try to help you.

Thanks,
Ivan

Good points. I especially like the template choice idea.

The telerikwatch.com bit will be pretty handy as well. I just gave it a cursory look.

Hi Ben,

Well the reason I'm using pages is in order to create user friendly addresses. So for example you could have page "www.mydatingsite.com/guys/ben.aspx". I could achieve this by implementing my own url rewrite system, but why bother when it's already done... :) Also another thing is that I can decide to make 10 new templates (5 man, 5 woman) and let users choose their template. So later on I'd just need to create a let's say dropdown with list of templates and let them choose the template they wish to use. When they choose the template I just save new template for their page and it's done. If I'd be using just one page I'd have to store all the info about that page (which user, which template...). I just think it's much easier to take advantage of the API.

Regarding the blogging with Sitefinity. Actually this blog has been created before the Blogs module so that's the reason. I've already started to set things up to move the blog to Sitefinity. Hopefully that will happen over the next 10 days or so. I'll write a blog post on my experience with moving an existing blog to Sitefinity. In the mean time you can check Todd's blog post on this topic : http://telerikwatch.com/2007/05/webcast-extending-sitefinitys-blogging.html

Thanks,
Ivan

So in this post when the user adds a profile record you are using CreatePage to add a page to the CMS system? Is that a better idea then say just using a GUID query string on one page like profile.aspx?ID=1288c2fb-0899-4abe-a03d-eea312d77734? Perhaps I don't quite understand what you are doing with the CreatePage. I look forward to reading your posts in the future.

PS How come you don't use the sitefinity blog module? Were there some features that you thought were missing?

Sincerely,

Ben

Hi Ivan,

Great blog by the way. Personally I am used to both languages so I would say stick to C# for now, people can always just use the Telerik Code Converter if they need to change anything to VB.Net.

Keep the great articles coming!!

Congrats on the new blog. If there was one thing lacking in the past with Sitefinity, it was code sample and resources.

A welcome addition to an already great product!

Anyhow, I'll write a new post today.

See ya.
